The Center for Territorial Studies and Analysis (CSAT) operates within the University of Oradea associated to the Department of Geography, Tourism and Spatial Planning since 15.01.2004, being recognized by the Ministry of Education and Research and the National Council of Scientific Research in Higher Education through certificate no. 29/CC-C of 11.05.2004.

The main purpose of the Center for Territorial Studies and Analysis is scientific research (both fundamental and applicative) focused on approaching the issue of geography from a new perspective, that of territorial systems analysis, through which geography becomes a discipline of great practical resonance, called to meet the increasingly pressing needs of society related to the rational management of the territory.

This type of approach brings together all segments of geographical science in order to carry out territorial diagnosis and forecast studies by assessing the overall potential of a territory, highlighting territorial models, identifying the main dysfunctions in the territory, establishing sustainable development strategies, etc.

The mission of CSAT is to promote fundamental and contractual scientific research in the field of geography, tourism and spatial planning.

Research directions:
The Center has a general research plan, which targets the following directions of study: tourism, population and habitat, environment, geographical risks, thematic mapping and GIS, spatial planning and urbanism, geosites.
